Lake Duluti Hiking Route

On this adventure, take a leisurely hike around Lake Duluti, providing the perfect opportunity to observe various bird species, including grey herons and cormorants. This sanctuary is home to more than 130 distinct bird species.

Description

Meet us at the Lake Duluti Registration Office, where we'll hop in a 4x4 that will take us to Lake Duluti, about 20 minutes from Arusha. Along the way, catch glimpses of the Great Rift Valley.

Upon arriving at this natural reserve in northern Tanzania, we'll begin our hiking adventure along Lake Duluti. The journey includes insights into the formation of this lake reserve within a volcanic crater, as well as guidance on the unique local flora and fauna.

Throughout our excursion, we'll identify various reptiles and avian species that we encounter. Keeping an eye out for ospreys, cormorants, grey herons, egrets, and kingfishers is essential. As we explore, we will see views of both Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru.

Our lakeside walk will conclude at the meeting point, where a 4x4 vehicle will be ready to transport us back to Arusha approximately 4 hours after our departure.
