Thinking of doing a safari near Arusha? Discover Lake Manyara National Park from a 4x4 with an English-speaking guide and drive through the village of Mto Wa Mbu to get a taste of traditional Tanzanian life.
Lake Manyara Safari
After hotel pickup in Arusha, the first stop is the village of Mto Wa Mbu, where you will learn about Tanzanian culture, home to nearly 120 different tribes. The village's economy is based on agriculture (mainly rice and bananas) and cattle raising, with food stalls and local artists present in the streets.
Following the visit to Mto Wa Mbu, the tour continues towards Lake Manyara National Park, a Biosphere Reserve since 1981, known for its diverse ecosystems: semi-arid areas, swamps, and acacia and baobab forests.
The park is home to various wildlife including elephants, crocodiles, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, baboons, and up to 400 species of birds. Notably, the park is recognized for its lions that climb trees, and your guide will explain the reasons behind this behavior during the tour.
In the afternoon, the tour concludes with a return to your hotel in Arusha.
