Marangu Day Trip

Our journey begins at 8 am with a pick-up from your Arusha accommodation as we set out on this exciting excursion. As we approach Kilimanjaro, we will find ourselves in Marangu, where we will delve into the fascinating culture of the Chagga people.

Our first destination will be the breathtaking Marangu Falls. Surrounded by vibrant vegetation, you'll hear the powerful cascade of water before arriving at the stunning waterfalls. Are you tempted to take a dip? Keep in mind that the waters originate from Kilimanjaro, making them delightfully cool.

The adventure will proceed to the Chagga Museum. The Chagga represent the third largest ethnic community in Tanzania and were among the pioneers of Christianity in the region. Here, we will uncover their traditions and also visit the tunnels that provided shelter during historical inter-clan conflicts.

Another highlight of Marangu is its vibrant markets, brimming with bananas. We'll have the chance to explore these lively markets! Following a short lunch break to recharge, we'll continue our exploration into the coffee and banana plantations. You'll be intrigued by the diverse applications of banana within Chagga culture, and we'll even enjoy a taste of mbege, a traditional banana beer.

After a fulfilling day, we'll make our way back to Arusha, with an expected return to your hotel around 4 pm.
