Mount Kilimanjaro Trek: 10 Days

During the 10-day trek, we'll ascend along the Lemosho route to Kilimanjaro, experiencing various landscapes including forests, plateaus, desert, and glaciers.

Day 1

We'll meet at the airport, and transport you to a hotel in Arusha. After checking in, we will meet the guides for an overview of the Lemosho route. The day ends with dinner.

Day 2

After breakfast, we will drive to Londorossi Gate, the western entrance to Kilimanjaro. The trek begins here with a five-kilometre (3 miles) walk through cultivated fields to the Lemosho trail. We will encounter guides from the local Chagga tribe and camp at Big Tree camp for the night.

Day 3

Post-breakfast, we'll leave the forest, ascending nine kilometres (5 miles) through heather fields, eventually reaching the Shira plateau for the night.

Day 4

On day four, we'll cross the Shira plateau into a moorland area. After six hours of ascent, we will camp at Moir camp, located under the ice fields.

Day 5

This day involves crossing a moorland into the Alpine desert, traveling five kilometres (3 miles) to Lava Tower camp at 4,114 metres (13,000 feet) for acclimatization.

Day 6

We will embark on a seven-hour walk, descending to Barranco Valley and reaching Karanga Valley camp for dinner and a sunset view.

Day 7

In the morning, we will climb about six kilometres (4 miles) to Kosovo camp, near a crater.

Day 8

Early ascent to the summit of Kibo, reaching Uhuru Peak at 5,896 metres (19,000 feet) before descending back to camp for dinner.

Day 9

We will descend to Mweka Gate, have lunch, and return to the hotel in Arusha for a celebration dinner.

Day 10

We will escort you to the airport for your flight home.

Accommodation

On the first and last night, we will stay at Maura Apartments & Lodges in Arusha. The remaining nights will be spent in tents.
