Paestum Excursion

We'll pick you up at your hotel in Ascea and travel to Paestum, a World Heritage Site since 1988. Prepare for a journey into the past.

Upon arrival, we will explore the archaeological site of this ancient city of Magna Graecia, founded around 600 BC as Poseidonia, later inhabited by the Lucanians who named it Paistom, before becoming a Roman colony called Paestum.

We will visit the Doric temples of Hera I, Hera II, and Athena, with the guide providing details about each structure set against the landscape.

Next, we will enter the park's museum to learn about artifacts discovered during excavations. This collection includes vases, weapons, and grave goods from the Greek and Lucanian necropolis.

Among the museum's highlights are the frescoes of the Tomb of the Diver, depicting a man diving into the sea, symbolizing the transition from life to the afterlife.

We will conclude our excursion to Paestum after four hours, returning to Ascea with an expected hotel arrival at 7 pm.
