Paestum Excursion

We'll pick you up at your hotel in Ascea and travel to the city of Paestum, a World Heritage Site since 1988. This excursion will allow you to delve into the past.

Upon arrival, we will explore the archaeological site of the ancient city of Magna Graecia, founded around 600 BC as Poseidonia. It was later occupied by the Lucanians and renamed Paistom before becoming a Roman colony known as Paestum.

We will visit the Doric temples of Hera I, Hera II, and Athena, guided by our expert who will explain the unique features of these structures.

Next, we will enter the park's museum, where we will learn about the artifacts discovered during excavations. The museum houses a vast collection including vases, weapons, and grave goods from the Greek and Lucanian necropolis.

Among the exhibits, the superb frescoes of the Tomb of the Diver stand out, depicting a man about to dive into the sea, symbolizing the transition from life to the afterlife.

We will conclude our excursion to Paestum after four hours, returning to Ascea, with arrival at your hotel scheduled for 7 pm.
