Shore Excursion to the Dead Sea and Masada
The guide will meet you at the cruise port of Ashdod when your ship arrives. We will board a vehicle and travel to Masada National Park, located near the southwestern shore of the Dead Sea.
After a two-hour bus ride, we will reach a cable car station and take a tram to the top of the Masada plateau, ascending 434 meters (1423 feet). A guided tour of the ruins of King Herod's palace/fortress will follow. This is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
We will explore the archaeological grounds, ancient mosaics, cellars, bathhouse, and the Masada Museum to learn about its history and the siege by the Roman army.
The next stop is Ein Bokek beach on the shore of the Dead Sea. You will have two hours of free time for lunch and to experience the salt lake, located over 300 meters (984 feet) below sea level. You will find it easy to float on the water.
During your free time, you can also collect some exfoliating clay for a mask for your skin to benefit from its revitalizing antioxidant properties.
Finally, we will return to the bus and head back to the port of Ashdod, concluding the tour after a total of nine hours.
