Assisi Guided Tour

The city of origin of St. Francis of Assisi is a significant pilgrimage location for many. This three-hour guided tour will focus on the founder of the Franciscan order and the order of Saint Clare.

We will meet in the Piazza Giacomo Matteotti to begin our Assisi guided tour. Here, we will learn about the life of Saint Clare.

The next stop will be the Chiesa Nuova, built on the site of St. Francis’ family home. The original three portals and the ground floor where St. Francis worked are still preserved.

Next, we will visit the Temple of Minerva in Piazza del Comune, originating from the first century BC and later converted into a church.

We will then proceed to the Upper Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi and the Lower Basilica of St. Francis, dedicating half an hour to each building. These form part of the UNESCO World Heritage site.

The Upper Basilica is known for its bright and spacious interior, while the Lower Basilica contrasts with a darker atmosphere. We will explore the various chapels and the crypt that holds St. Francis' remains.

The tour will conclude outside the Lower Basilica after visiting the key locations in the city.
