Assisi Guided Tour

The city of origin of St. Francis of Assisi is an important pilgrimage location for many. We will spend three hours walking around the city to learn about the founder of the Franciscan order and the order of Saint Clare.

We'll meet in the Piazza Giacomo Matteotti to start our Assisi guided tour. Inside, we will learn about the life of Saint Clare.

Our next stop will be the Chiesa Nuova, built on the site of St. Francis of Assisi's family home, where the original portals and the ground floor remain intact.

The tour continues to the Temple of Minerva, located in Piazza del Comune, dating back to the first century BC. Originally built in honor of the goddess of war, it was later converted into a church.

After leaving the temple, we will visit the Upper Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi and the Lower Basilica of St. Francis. We will dedicate half an hour to each, examining details of this UNESCO World Heritage site.

The Upper Basilica features a bright and spacious interior, contrasting with the more somber Lower Basilica. We will explore its many chapels and the crypt with the remains of St. Francis.

The tour will conclude outside the Lower Basilica of St. Francis, after visiting the main sites of this city.
