By booking the Assisi Private Tour, you'll have an exclusive English guide to learn about the history of Saint Francis of Assisi and discover the significance of this city as a pilgrimage site.
Assisi Private Tour
The Assisi private tour starts outside the Basilica of St. Clare and lasts for 3 hours, exploring the main monuments and points of interest in the city.
We will first visit the Upper Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi and the Lower Basilica of St. Francis. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000, this site honors the founder of the Franciscan order and is essential for visitors to the Perugia region. The exploration of the numerous chapels and the crypt containing the remains of St. Francis will take approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.
The tour continues to the Temple of Minerva, located in Piazza del Comune. It currently operates as a church but has connections to the Old Roman Empire, which will be explained during the visit.
Next, we will visit Chiesa Nuova, built on the site of St. Francis's former family home.
The tour concludes with insights into the city's history and St. Francis's life.
