Tour Details
We will meet at the National Library of Greece to begin this tour of Greek mythology in Athens. We will discuss both well-known and lesser-known myths.
Participants will learn about Athens' foundation myth, the city's patron deity, and the reasons for the construction of the Acropolis. This mythological tour of Athens reveals legends that lie beneath every stone.
We will visit the legendary Academy of Athens, home to the only sculptures of Plato and Socrates in the city, and the Numismatic Museum, which showcases ancient Greek coins and their significance in the economy and politics of the time.
Next, we will stroll through the National Garden and in front of the Temple of Olympian Zeus and the Arch of Hadrian. At each site, we will recount various myths highlighting the gods of the Greek pantheon, including Zeus, Poseidon, and Aphrodite. This journey through Greek mythology, philosophy, and poetry acknowledges the contributions of Athenian philosophers and poets.
After a total of 2 hours, we will conclude the tour in front of the Acropolis Museum.
