Meteora 1 or 2 Day Trip

Perched high on sandstone rock formations, the Meteora Monasteries are remarkable buildings that integrate with the landscape. Visit them on a 1 or 2 day trip from Athens!

Day Trip Details

At the specified time, you will head to Athens Central Station and take the bus to Kalambaka Station, where you will meet your guide.

After a 4-hour journey, we will arrive in Kalambaka and proceed to the Meteora Monasteries. The driver will provide historical insights of this UNESCO World Heritage Site.

You have the option to include lunch, with a choice of a main course from 10 Greek cuisine options, accompanied by a salad, bread, and mineral water. Vegetarian and vegan options are available.

We will spend approximately 4 hours exploring the Meteora complex, accessing 3 of the 6 monasteries: the Monastery of St. Nikolaos, Monastery of the Holy Trinity, and the Monastery of St. Stephen. The complex features medieval origin cloisters built on sandstone mounds dominating the landscape.

Before returning to Kalambaka, we will stop at the Hermit Caves between the rock formations Pyxari and Amparia for a fitting conclusion to the day.

We will conclude our 14-hour trip at the starting point.

2-Day Trip to Meteora

For those with more time, a 2-day trip is available.

On the first day, we arrive at Kalabaka for hotel check-in and visit the Byzantine Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, an 11th-century church in Meteora's unique landscape.

We will then go to the Hermit Caves for a sunset view from one of Meteora's lookout points, followed by dinner at local restaurants.

On the second day, a 4-hour guided tour of the Meteora monasteries will take place, entering 3 monasteries and stopping at 6 others for exterior views. Return to Kalambaka for our journey back to Athens, departing at 6 pm and arriving in approximately 4.5 hours.
