What is the MAC?

Established in 1986, the Museum of Cycladic Art stands out as a prominent archaeological center in Athens. Its permanent collection includes over 3,000 pieces from continental Greece, Cyprus, and the Cyclades, particularly focusing on Cycladic Art from the 3rd millennium BC.

The Museum of Cycladic Art Exhibition

The permanent collection of the Museum is organized across three floors, each dedicated to a specific theme:

Cycladic culture: This floor displays a wide array of weapons, ceramic artifacts, figures, jugs, and other items crafted in the central islands of the Aegean during the Copper and Bronze Ages.Ancient Greek art: Here, visitors can uncover the origins and evolution of one of humanity’s most significant civilizations and the birthplace of democracy.Cypriot art: This section illustrates the history of various ancient communities and civilizations that have settled in Cyprus, which served as a strategic point for navigating the Eastern Mediterranean.

The museum welcomes visitors during the following hours:

Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday: 10 am to 5 pm.Thursday: 10 am to 8 pmSunday: 11 am to 5 pm

Important Info

Be aware that the museum is closed on Tuesdays, as well as on Clean/Ash Monday, Easter Sunday, Easter Monday, and Holy Spirit Monday. Since the exact dates for these observances vary each year, it's advisable to check in advance to ensure access during your planned visit.
