On this tour of ancient Athens and the Acropolis, we'll visit landmarks like the Parthenon, the Agora, Monastiraki, and Plaka.
Tour Description
We will meet at 26 Athanasiou Diakou to start our tour of old Athens, exploring the city with origins over three thousand years old.
Our first stop will be Hadrian's Arch and the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the largest in Greece during the Hellenistic era. We will walk to the Acropolis of Athens, a highly visited site.
Entering the archaeological site through the Propylaea, we will see the Parthenon, Temple of Athena Nike, and the Erechtheion. We will discuss the architecture and functions of these buildings.
Next, we will visit the Odeon of Herodes Atticus and the Agora, the heart of ancient Athens' social, political, and commercial life. We will view the National Observatory of Athens and access a viewpoint over Philopappos, Mars, and Pnyx.
We will explore the Monastiraki district, observing the ruins of Hadrian's Library and the Tower of the Winds. Finally, we will stroll through the Athenian neighborhoods of Plaka and Anafiotika and conclude the tour in Anafiotika after 3.5 hours.
Tickets to the Acropolis and Agora
You can book the guided tour of the Acropolis and the Agora without tickets. The guided tour must occur between 8 am and 9 am. From November 1st 2024 to March 31st 2025, ticket purchase times will vary:
For the 8:45 am tour without tickets, buy tickets in the 9 am to 10 am slot.For the 2:30 pm tour without tickets, buy tickets in the 2 pm to 3 pm slot.
Availability of tickets at the Acropolis ticket office is not guaranteed, so online purchase in advance is recommended.
Reduced tickets (50% off) are available for youth 6-25 from non-EU countries and EU citizens over 65.
Tickets are free for EU citizens under 25, non-EU citizens under 5, and students over 25 from EU/EEA. Show an ID to purchase free or discounted tickets.
