Old Athens + Acropolis Tour

On this tour of ancient Athens and the Acropolis, we will explore the Greek capital's historical significance. Key landmarks include the Parthenon, and the neighborhoods of Monastiraki and Plaka.

Tour Description

We will meet at 26 Athanasiou Diakou to commence our tour of old Athens, focusing on the city’s origins over three thousand years ago. The first stop will be Hadrian's Arch and the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the largest in Greece during the Hellenistic era. Our next destination is the Acropolis of Athens, a renowned site.

Entry will be through the Propylaea, allowing us to see the Parthenon, Temple of Athena Nike, and Erechtheion, learning about their architecture and historical significance. We will then visit the Odeon of Herodes Atticus and the Agora, the heart of ancient Athenian life. A panoramic viewpoint over the hills of Philopappos, Mars, and Pnyx will provide further insight.

We will explore the Monastiraki district, encountering the ruins of Hadrian's Library and the Tower of the Winds. The tour concludes with a walk through the districts of Plaka and Anafiotika, finishing 3.5 hours after the tour starts.

Tickets to the Acropolis

You can book a guided tour of the Acropolis without tickets; in this case, you must acquire your tickets, aligning with the tour schedule. For an 8 am tour, purchase tickets for the 8 am to 9 am slot; for an 8:45 am tour, buy tickets for the 9 am to 10 am slot.

Tickets may not be available at the Acropolis ticket office on the activity day; early online purchase is recommended. EU citizens under 25 and non-EU citizens under 18 are eligible for free entry with ID. Adults over 65 receive a 50% discount, applicable only at the ticket office or Acropolis website. Groups with eligible members should consider the guided tour without tickets for discounted purchases.
