Why Visit the Ancient Agora of Athens?

The Ancient Agora of Athens included public buildings for commercial, religious, political, cultural, and social activities in Ancient Greece. It functioned as a government centre for discussions and featured temples for worship.

Despite many structures not surviving, the remaining buildings provide insight into the historical open space.

This ticket allows you to view the Stoa of Attalos, now a shopping centre and home to the Museum of Agora, showcasing artefacts from archaeological excavations. You'll also see the Temple of Hephaestus, known for its Doric columns and frescoes depicting significant mythological battles.
