Description
At the indicated time, we'll meet at Auburn Avenue to begin this free civil rights tour of Atlanta and learn about Martin Luther King's legacy in Georgia's capital city.
During the tour, we'll explore the history of the civil rights movement in the United States, focusing on the life of one of the most renowned activists.
We'll trace Martin Luther King's life by passing key locations, including the exterior of his childhood home and the Ebenezer Baptist Church, significant to his family. We'll also visit the burial site of Martin Luther King and his wife.
Next, we'll discuss the history of the African-American community and review recent equality laws as we walk through the International Civil Rights Walk of Fame.
Additional stops include Wheat Street Church and the oldest fire station in Atlanta, both of which played significant roles in racial integration. We will also view several notable urban art murals.
After 2 hours of sightseeing, we'll conclude the free tour at Jackson Street Bridge.
