Routes and Stops

The Auckland Explorer Bus ensures a relaxing journey to discover one of New Zealand's most celebrated cities. Traveling aboard this double-decker open-top bus, you will enjoy breathtaking views of the landmarks in the City of Sails. The service features two distinct routes, both enhanced with a recorded audio guide in English.

The Red Tour encompasses the downtown and central Auckland areas, showcasing key highlights in the eastern sector, including the Sky Tower, the Auckland Art Gallery, Newmarket, the Auckland War Memorial Museum, and SEA LIFE Kelly Tarlton's Aquarium.

The Blue Tour explores central and western Auckland, leading you past sites such as Mt. Eden (known as Maungawhau in Maori), the Auckland Zoo, and MOTAT. Note that the Blue Outer Tour is available solely during New Zealand's summer months, from November to April.

How it Works

Depending on the type of ticket purchased, it will be valid for either 24 or 48 hours starting from the initial presentation on the bus. During this period, you can get on and off as much as you wish.

Frequency and Schedule

The Auckland tourist bus operates according to the following timetable:

Red route: accessible every day of the year from 9 am to 4 pm with a 30-minute frequency. If you choose to complete the full route without interruptions, anticipate a duration of approximately 70 minutes.Blue route: only runs from November to April between 9 am and 4 pm with a 30-minute frequency. The entire tour takes about 50 minutes.
