Civil War & Civil Rights Tour
Hotel pickup in Atlanta will occur at the scheduled time. We will board a comfortable bus and follow the footsteps of the Civil War, highlighting an important battlefield from the war of independence.
The first stop will be Cabbagetown, a historic residential neighborhood recognized in the U.S. National Register of Historic Places for its significance to the cotton industry.
Next, we will visit Inman Park, the site of the Battle of Atlanta, which expedited the war's conclusion. Though Atlanta suffered extensive destruction, some
Victorian houses remain.
We will then proceed to Oakland Cemetery, where notable figures, including soldiers and the founder of the Masters Golf Tournament, are buried.
Following this, we will explore Atlanta's political history, focusing on its Civil Rights chapter. As the hometown of Martin Luther King Jr., we will visit his home, the church he attended, and his grave, with a guide providing insights into his leadership in the movement.
Lastly, we will visit the Sweet Auburn Curb Market, known as the only public market in Atlanta and once the wealthiest African-American street in the world.
At the end of the tour, we will return to your hotels in Atlanta.
