We will convene at 3:30 pm in the Plaza Mayor, where our journey through Ayacucho begins. This square is a showcase of captivating architecture from the colonial era, featuring landmarks such as the remarkable Casa de Baza y Solís and the impressive baroque Cathedral.
As we navigate the charming streets, we will encounter a variety of colonial houses adorned in bright hues. Our itinerary will lead us to the Hipólito Unanue Museum, offering insight into the rich tapestry of ancient Peruvian civilizations, including the Chimú, Moche, Wari, and Inca cultures.
Following this, we will pause at the Santa Teresa de las Carmelitas Descalzas Monastery. Did you know that Ayacucho is affectionately termed "the city of churches"? Count how many you spot along the way!
The city is also renowned for its exquisite craftsmanship. While traversing the Santa Ana neighborhood, we will delve into the art of huamanga stone carving and traditional weaving. Our final destination will be the Acuchimay Viewpoint, where you can take in the breathtaking panoramas of the city.
