Hiking and Kayaking at the Emerald Lagoon

The hiking and kayaking trip at the Emerald Lagoon begins at 6 am from the main square of Ayacucho. We will travel through the Andean highlands to Huanta, where we'll stop for breakfast. At around 11 am, we will arrive at the starting point for a half-hour trekking route through pastures, reaching the Verdecocha or Emerald Lagoon at an altitude of 4300 meters (14,100 feet).

Upon arrival, participants will board kayaks to paddle across the uniquely colored crystalline emerald green waters of the lagoon. After enjoying the scenery and taking photographs, we will hike again, making a stop at the Uchuraccay sanctuary to learn about its historical significance.

At the end of the trail, transportation will be provided to a local restaurant in Huanta for lunch, where participants will have free time to explore the local cuisine. Following lunch, a brief tour of Huanta will include visiting the notable statue of the White Christ.

We expect to return to Ayacucho and drop off participants at approximately 6 pm.
