Hiking and Kayaking at the Emerald Lagoon

On this hiking and kayaking trip at the Emerald Lagoon, you'll experience the beauty of this uniquely colored lake. We will paddle across the green waters and connect with the natural surroundings.

We will meet at 6 am at the main square of Ayacucho and travel through the Andean highlands towards Huanta, where we will have a breakfast stop.

At around 11 am, we will arrive at the starting point for our half-hour trekking route through the pastures to the famous Verdecocha or Emerald Lagoon, located at an altitude of 4300 meters (14,100 feet). Upon arrival, the hike will be deemed worthwhile.

After experiencing this natural enclave, we'll board kayaks and paddle across the crystalline emerald green water. After enjoying this environment and taking photos, we will hike again, stopping at the Uchuraccay sanctuary to rest and learn about its history.

At the end of the trail, the bus will take us to lunch in Huanta, where you will have free time to sample local cuisine. After lunch, we'll take a brief tour of this charming town, known as the Emerald of the Andes, and visit the statue of the White Christ.

We will return to Ayacucho, arriving back at the departure point at around 6 pm.
