Baeza Guided Exploration
The journey will commence at the Pl. de los Leones. As we meander through this recognized UNESCO site, we will delve into the rich history that surrounds iconic landmarks, including the Tower of the Aliatares, a remnant of the ancient Andalusian fortifications. Our path will then lead us to the charming Barbacana St, where we will visit the remarkable 16th-century granary.
Next, we will proceed towards the Constitution and Pópulo squares. Here, we will encounter several historic civil structures, such as the old Public Notaries. Additionally, we will admire the Palace of Jabalquinto and enter the church of Santa Cruz to appreciate its rich architectural legacy.
Our exploration will also include a visit to the interior of the old University of Baeza, highlighting the legacy of the famed writer Antonio Machado, as well as the Cathedral of the Nativity of Our Lady. This church, with its medieval roots, showcases the transition of various artistic and architectural movements from Gothic to Renaissance. From the lookout point of the ancient city walls, we will enjoy stunning views of the Guadalquivir Valley, with the Cazorla and Mágina mountain ranges in the distance.
The tour will conclude with a delightful olive oil tasting, celebrating one of the signature products of Jaén.
