Marine Research Tour in Bahía Solano

At the indicated time, we'll meet on Carrera 2 in Bahía Solano, in the tourist area of Ciudad Mutis for a brief talk on biology, covering the main methodologies of cetacean research.

After the introduction, if the tide is high, we'll walk to the beach of Ciudad Mutis to embark. If the tide is low, we'll use tuk-tuk or minibus to reach the dock of Bahía Solano to start sailing.

During the trip, we'll aim to spot humpback whales and other marine animals. Our role will include assisting the marine biologists on board in monitoring cetacean behavior and collecting ecological, acoustic, genetic, and photo-identification data. A hydrophone will also be used to listen to the sounds of the whales underwater.

We will have a snack on board, including lemonade or iced tea and cheese bread or croissant.

After 5.5-6.5 hours of activity, we will sail back, with the total duration of the tour being approximately 7 hours, depending on the tides.
