Whale Watching in Bahía Solano

Upon reservation, choose between the following options. Both meet at Carrera 2 in Bahía Solano, in the tourist area of Ciudad Mutis, at the designated time.

5-hour tour

The tour starts with a brief introductory talk about humpback whales, followed by a walk to the beach of Ciudad Mutis to embark on the vessel. If tides are low, transportation to the dock of Bahía Solano will be via tuk-tuk or minibus.

During the tour, we will explore the Colombian Pacific waters, learning about cetaceans, and may use a hydrophone to listen to their underwater sounds. Additionally, we will search for dolphins, turtles, sailfish, sharks, and seabirds. A snack of lemonade or iced tea with cheese bread or croissant will be provided on board.

After 3-4 hours of whale watching, we will return to the starting point. The total duration of the activity is 4-5 hours, depending on tides.

8-hour tour

This option includes the 5-hour tour followed by a trip to Playa Mecana. With high tides, we will sail to the mouth of the Mecana River, exploring a lush mangrove ecosystem. If tides are low, we will walk to the river from the beach.

Next, we will have a typical lunch at the home of two natives from the Mecana community, featuring freshly caught fish, patacones or yucca, rice, salad, and soup. After resting, we will go tubing on the Mecana River before returning to the starting point. Total duration also depends on tides.
