Whale Watching in Bahía Solano
Upon reservation, you can choose between two options. Both meet at Carrera 2 in Bahía Solano, in the tourist area of Ciudad Mutis, at the scheduled time.
5-hour tour
The tour begins with a brief introductory talk about humpback whales, followed by a walk to the beach of Ciudad Mutis to embark. If low tide occurs, transport will be provided by tuk-tuk or minibus to the dock of Bahía Solano.
During the trip on the Colombian Pacific waters, participants will learn about the whales, and if conditions permit, will use a hydrophone to listen to underwater whale sounds. Other wildlife such as dolphins, turtles, and seabirds may also be spotted.
Snacks including lemonade or iced tea and cheese bread or croissant will be available on board. After 3-4 hours of whale watching, we'll return to the starting point, with the total activity duration between 4 and 5 hours.
8-hour tour
For this option, after the 5-hour tour, we'll proceed to Playa Mecana. If the tide is high, we'll sail to the mouth of the Mecana River to explore the mangrove forest. If low tide, we'll disembark on the beach and walk to the river.
The itinerary includes a typical lunch with freshly caught fish and sides served at the home of two natives from the Mecana community. After lunch, there will be relaxation on the riverbank followed by tubing on the Mecana River.
After tubing, we'll return to the starting point, with total duration depending on tides.
