Baiona Free Tour

The raids of the pirate Francis Drake, the news of the Discovery of America and other stories await you on this free tour of Baiona, one of the most beautiful villages in Pontevedra.

Tour Details

We'll begin this free tour of Baiona at the indicated time at the arches of Paseo Ribeira, in front of the Tourism Office.

Firstly, we'll stroll around Mount Boi. Here, we will see the walls and battlements of Monterreal Castle, a medieval fortress built for coastal protection. The site also includes the Parador del Conde de Gondomar.

During our walk, we will learn about La Pinta, the ship associated with Christopher Columbus that brought news of the New World. We will also discuss the incursions of corsairs and pirates, including Francis Drake.

Next, we will explore the history of Pedro Madruga and head to the historic centre of Baiona. There, we will pass by Casa de Correa and Casa del Perdón, and learn why Baiona was a jewel of the Crown. The tour will include old photos of the town.

After a total of 2 hours, we will conclude our tour back at the meeting point.
