It has been more than 500 years since Christopher Columbus set foot in Cuba. Discover the exact point where he arrived in 1492 with this Bariay National Monument day trip from Guardalavaca.

Description

We'll pick you up at your hotel in Guardalavaca at the designated time and set out for the Bariay National Monument, a series of monoliths erected to symbolize Columbus's arrival in Cuba. This was the first place in the New World that the Santa María, Pinta, and Niña crew saw.

Once at Bariay, we’ll explore figures that commemorate the merge of two cultures: neoclassical arches representing Europe and aboriginal statues that reference the ancient American continent, replicas of nearby pre-Hispanic vestiges. Inside Bariay Park, we can also see a reproduction of indigenous huts.

Afterwards, we’ll sample Cuban coffee, coconut water, & seasonal fruit at a local's house. To further enjoy this setting, we will take a ride in a carriage or on horseback to see Bariay Bay, mangrove areas, coconut trees, and royal palms. Finally, we’ll relax on Bariay Beach, where you can take a refreshing swim before returning. The total duration is 8 hours.
