Discover the landscapes of the Yumurí River with our trip from Baracoa. The tour includes passing through a canyon and visiting the Punta de Maisí while traveling through taro, coffee, and sweet potato fields.
Day Trip Details
We will pick you up from your hotel in Baracoa at the designated time to explore the protected natural area surrounding the Yumurí River in an off-roading vehicle.
During the journey, we will pass through tropical forests and lush vegetation, along coffee, taro, sweet potato, and yam fields. We will share facts about local life and soil conservation.
Upon reaching Yumurí, a boat trip allows you to view the canyon walls rising up to 200 meters (656 feet) alongside the river, leading to the Atlantic Ocean. You will learn the reason behind the Indigenous community's name for the river.
We will cross the river, sailing its only navigable section, which is 300 meters (984 feet) long. You will have the opportunity to take a refreshing dip in one of the natural pools along the river.
Next, we will head to Punta de Maisí, the easternmost point in Cuba, where you can see the lighthouse known as "La Concha." On clear days, it is possible to see Haiti from its highest point.
A typical Cuban lunch will be provided at the hotel Faro de Maisí.
After a total of 8 hours, we will conclude the tour and drop you off at your hotel in Baracoa.
