Cardona & Montserrat Trip

We will meet at your hotel in Barcelona and take a bus to the municipality of Cardona, arriving in approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. Cardona is renowned for the Salt Mountain Cultural Park and its well-preserved medieval castle.

Our first destination will be Cardona mountain, a significant potassium salt mine covering over 100 hectares, which continues to expand. We will descend 86 meters to view ancient stalactites and stalagmites of salt while learning about the valley's industrial history.

Next, we will visit Cardona Castle, an 886 fortress blending Romanesque and Gothic styles, providing unique views of the Cardener river valley and the Saline valley.

Following Cardona, we will explore the historic center of Cardona, known for its trading village that became a crucial market and meeting point for travelers from the south of France and the Pyrenees.

We will then proceed to Montserrat, spotting its iconic jagged peak. Our visit includes the Benedictine monastery of Santa Maria de Montserrat, home to Catalonia's patron saint.

The tour will conclude with our return to Barcelona, lasting around 10 hours in total.
