Cardona & Montserrat Trip
We will meet at your hotel in Barcelona at the scheduled time and board a bus to the municipality of Cardona. After 1 hour and 30 minutes, we will arrive in this historic town known for the Salt Mountain Cultural Park and a well-preserved medieval castle.
Our first stop will be Cardona mountain, a significant potassium salt mine spanning over 100 hectares. We will descend 86 meters to view ancient stalactites and stalagmites of salt and learn about the valley's industrial exploitation history.
Next, we will visit Cardona Castle, an 886 fortress showcasing Romanesque and Gothic architecture. The castle offers unique views of the Cardener river valley and Saline valley.
Our excursion continues with a guided tour of Cardona's historic centre, a settlement that became a crucial market and meeting point for travelers from southern France and the Pyrenees.
After exploring Cardona, we will proceed to Montserrat, where we will visit the Benedictine monastery of Santa Maria de Montserrat, housing Catalonia's patron saint.
Finally, we will return to Barcelona, concluding the tour after approximately 10 hours.
