Alberobello + Matera Self Guided Tour

Alberobello, located in Apulia, and Matera, found in Basilicata, are two enchanting towns in southern Italy. This self-guided tour allows you to fully experience their unique beauty and culture.

Tour Details

Complying with the scheduled time, your journey will commence at Piazza Eroi del Mare, just 98 ft (30 m) from the Chamber of Commerce in Bari. From there, we’ll embark on an exploration of southern Italy in a comfortable minibus.

Your adventure will begin with a scenic drive through the picturesque Apulian countryside. After approximately an hour, our first stop will be in Alberobello, where you will enjoy 3 hours of leisure time to explore the renowned trulli. These fascinating stone structures, which are a hallmark of southern Italy, gained recognition as a World Heritage Site in 1996.

Among the highlights in Alberobello are the remarkable Siamesi and Sovrano trulli, alongside the charming districts of Rione Aia Piccola and Rione dei Monti. Visitors are also encouraged to admire other architectural treasures in the area, such as the church of San Antonio di Padua and the Basilica of San Cosimo and San Damiano.

Following your time in Alberobello, we will reconvene in the town center to continue on to Basilicata. By 1:30 pm, we will arrive in Matera, a delightful town honored as the European Capital of Culture in 2019.

You will then have another 4 hours to enjoy lunch and leisurely wander through the iconic Sassi of Matera, distinctive cave dwellings situated in the historic center. Interestingly, this area served as a backdrop for scenes in the James Bond film No Time to Die. You can stroll where the famous secret agent once walked!

Ultimately, we will make our way back to the designated meeting point, with an estimated return 10-11 hours after our initial pickup.
