Matera and Altamura Day Trip

Description

After meeting at the Teatro Petruzzelli at the indicated time, we'll depart from Bari for our day trip to Matera and Altamura.

Our first destination is Matera, a cave town recognized by Unesco, located deep in a ravine. Historically, the inhabitants of Matera lived in cave houses until 1952, forming two districts known as Sassi. We will explore its winding cobbled streets and enjoy panoramic views of the Murgia hills.

Following our visit to Matera, we will proceed to Altamura, where we will explore its historic centre on foot. Altamura is renowned for its artisan bread, considered some of the best in Italy.

In Altamura, you will have free time to eat and the chance to try this local delicacy from one of the traditional stone ovens.

We will reconvene to conclude the excursion to Matera and Altamura, returning to Bari approximately 7 hours after the tour begins.
