We’ll convene at Teatro Petruzzelli to kick off an exciting journey as we depart from Bari, heading towards one of the oldest municipalities in existence, Matera!
After a scenic 1-hour drive, we’ll reach Matera—recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which has risen from its historic past to become one of Italy's top tourist attractions. Once there, we will take in stunning panoramic vistas from one of the city's observation points.
Next, we will visit the Amaro Lucano workshop, where the "Matera in Miniature" exhibition resides. This presents an excellent opportunity to learn about the rich history of this town in the Basilicata region. Our exploration will continue as we proceed to a cave dwelling, a significant highlight of Matera, well-known for its designation as a cave city with an ancient old town carved into the stone.
To conclude our tour in Matera, we will visit the fruit and vegetable market, where you’ll have the chance to sample the famous truffles and immerse yourself in the vibrant local cuisine.
