Prepare to be amazed by the breathtaking landscapes and rich biodiversity along our hiking route through the Chicamocha Canyon. Over the course of 10 kilometers (6.2 miles), you'll witness a genuine natural marvel up close.

Description

We'll meet at Barichara's main park and board a minibus to Villanueva. The scenic road trip will last about two hours.

Upon arrival, we'll head towards Alto de Martha, the starting point for our hiking adventure through the Chicamocha Canyon.

Our hike spans 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) and passes through locations like Macaregua, Mesa de los Santos, and towns including Aratoca. During the hike, we'll reach the Rancho Alegre viewpoint, offering a panoramic view of the Chicamocha Canyon.

We will take a short break at this viewpoint to discuss the evolution of the landscape. This site was nominated for the Natural Wonders of the World list.

As we continue, we'll explore the lush vegetation of the Chicamocha Canyon and look for birds and monkeys native to this National Park. We'll also encounter cobblestone paths built by the German engineer Geo von Lengerke.

Given the demanding nature of the 5-hour trek, we'll pause for a picnic that includes a sandwich, a piece of fruit, and water.

With renewed energy, we'll hike to the town of Jordan, where our minibus will be waiting. After a total of 9 hours, we'll conclude the activity back at our starting point in Barichara.
