Witness breathtaking landscapes and immerse yourself in a deep cultural heritage as we set off on a hiking expedition along the historic Camino Real toward the charming town of Guane. This path offers a glimpse into the life of indigenous communities and Spanish settlers, allowing us to step back in time.
Description
Our journey will commence at the designated time at Barichara's main park, from where we will make our way to the entrance of Móncora Biopark, marking the beginning of our Caminho Real hiking adventure.
As we embark on this historic trail, we'll navigate an 8-kilometer (5-mile) descent that leads us to the ancient town of Guane. Along the path, take note of the indigenous trees that adorn the Camino Real de Tobares. This corridor was essential for the connections between indigenous tribes and later became a crucial route for Spanish colonization efforts.
Our trek will lead us to a pottery workshop, where you will learn about a traditional craft practiced by the Guane people. After our visit, we will continue our journey, surrounded by stunning mountain vistas.
After a fulfilling 4.5-hour hike, our adventure will wrap up in the main park of Guane. We will then take a tuk-tuk back to our original meeting point in Barichara.
Tour option without return transportation
If you wish to prolong your visit in Guane or prefer to return to Barichara at your leisure, consider the tour option without included return transport. Our guide will offer insights into available public transportation alternatives.
