Catedral Ridge Route
We will pick you up from your hotel and head to the foot of Cerro Catedral mountain, where we will buy the cable car ticket (not included). Then for 40 minutes, you can enjoy panoramic views as we ascend to the summit.
At more than 6500 feet high, we will hike for two hours over rocky terrain, taking in views of Cerro Tronador and high Andean landscapes.
We will reach "the cancha de futbol" and descend to the lagoons of Schmoll and Toncek. After circling the lagoons, we will arrive at Refugio Emilio Frey at an altitude of 1,700 m (5,577 ft) for a picnic lunch consisting of a sandwich, fruit, and a cereal bar.
After the break, we will descend along the traditional path, crossing 10 km (6 mi) of forest and arriving back in Bariloche about 9 hours later.
Traditional Hiking Route
The morning begins similarly until we reach the bottom of Cerro Catedral. We will start our traditional hiking route.
For four hours, we will gradually ascend through forests and cross streams, enjoying views of lake Gutierrez and Cerro Ventana.
The hike continues through the valley of Arroyo del Van Titter. The ascent becomes steeper, leading us to Refugio Emilio Frey after climbing 10 km (6 mi). Here, we will enjoy a sandwich, fruit, and a cereal bar with views of the Patagonian landscape.
Following the pause, we will return via the traditional track to Villa Catedral, taking 2.5 to 3 hours. The hike also concludes back in Bariloche, 9 hours later.
