Discover the natural beauty of Patagonia with this trip to Tronador (Thundering) Volcano, named for the sound made by ice breaks in the glaciers.
Description
The tour departs from Bariloche, traveling south alongside the Gutierrez and Mascardi lakes, showcasing the landscape of La Pampa with its lakes, rivers, and Andes peaks.
We proceed along the eastern coast of Mascardi Lake to a diversion leading into the Andes. A bridge over the Manso River guides us along the rapids and the eastern shores of Mascardi Lake. A visit to the Piuke island viewpoint offers views of its heart-shaped form.
The journey continues through Los Vuriloches Valley to Pampa Linda, a mountainous refuge where you'll have time for lunch. Afterward, we head to the base of the Tronador Volcano to observe the Ventisquero Negro glacier or Lago Manso. Witness the spectacular ice floes cascading from the volcano, a memorable sight.
After exploring nearby waterfalls, we'll return to Bariloche, completing the tour in approximately 9 hours.
