Barranquilla Cycling Adventure
We'll convene at the Mirador de la Sierra building at the scheduled time to kick off this engaging bike ride through Barranquilla's central area. Are you ready to discover the city from a different perspective? Let’s begin!
Once equipped with bikes and helmets, we’ll navigate through the picturesque areas of El Prado, Abajo, and the scenic esplanade of Barranquilla. Not only will you be travelling efficiently, but you’ll also get a great workout! What more could one desire?
Our first stop will be the Estadio Romelio Martínez, a hallmark of the city's sporting culture. Following this, we’ll continue into El Prado, passing notable sites such as the statue of Joe Arroyo, the Elías Chewin Basketball Stadium, and the beautiful Suri Salcedo Park. Get your cameras ready to capture these moments!
In the vibrant heart of El Prado, we’ll explore Fundadores Park and the Monumento de la Bandera, landmarks that highlight Barranquilla's rich history. Additionally, we'll visit the Sugar Baby Coliseum and the Amira de la Rosa Theatre, both renowned for their cultural significance.
Next, we’ll pass the Edgar Rentería Baseball Stadium as we make our way to the Abajo neighbourhood, a delightful area. There, we’ll admire La Aduana Square, Plaza de la Paz, and the impressive Metropolitana Cathedral. Did you know it's among the largest in Colombia? Prepare to be impressed!
Before concluding our bike journey, we’ll reach the esplanade, an ideal location to unwind and relish the refreshing sea breeze. You’ll also encounter a statue of Shakira and the notable Shark Fin, both symbolic representations of contemporary Barranquilla.
After an exhilarating 15 km (9 mile) ride lasting around 4 hours, we’ll return to our original meeting point to bid farewell.
