Bocas de Ceniza Day Trip
At 9 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Barranquilla and set off northbound. After 30 minutes on the road, we'll arrive at the mouth of the Magdalena River (Rio Grande de la Magdalena).
Upon arrival, we'll board a tourist train for a 7.5-mile (12-kilometre) ride through the remarkable landscapes of Bocas de Ceniza, where the river meets the Caribbean Sea.
After the train ride, we'll walk to the point where we can observe the mouth of the river. Here, we will see how the waters from the sea and the river meet, creating a unique blend of colours.
We will also view the significant infrastructure built in 1936 to channel the waters of the longest riverbed in Colombia, which is one of the largest engineering feats in the country.
We will then return to Barranquilla by bus, dropping you off at your hotel at around 1 pm.
