The mouth of the Magdalena River in the Caribbean is one of Barranquilla's must-see spots. Discover it on our Bocas de Ceniza Day Trip from this charming Colombian city.
Bocas de Ceniza Day Trip
At 9 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Barranquilla and set off northbound. After 30 minutes on the road, we'll arrive at the mouth of the Magdalena River (Rio Grande de la Magdalena).
We will board a tourist train for a 7.5-mile (12-kilometre) ride through the landscapes of Bocas de Ceniza, where the river meets the Caribbean Sea.
Following the train ride, we'll walk to the exact point where we can see the mouth of the river and observe the meeting of the sea and river waters, creating a unique blend of colors.
We will also see the infrastructure built in 1936 to channel the waters of the longest riverbed in Colombia, which is one of the largest engineering feats in the country.
We will return to Barranquilla by bus and drop you off at your hotel at around 1 pm.
