Excursion to Usiacurí

Your adventure begins with a pick-up from your hotel in Barranquilla at 9 am, as we set off to the southern regions of the Atlántico department.

After approximately thirty minutes on the road, our first stop will be the quaint town of Galapa, where we’ll have the chance to observe artisans skillfully crafting Barranquilla’s Carnival masks.

We’ll then resume our journey toward Usiacurí, located amidst breathtaking, verdant hills. Upon arrival, an informative guided tour of its historic center awaits us, allowing us to step back in time as we wander through colorful streets.

As part of the tour, we’ll learn about one of Usiacurí’s most notable figures: the poet Julio Flórez, who was drawn to this region for its healing waters. During our exploration, we will visit the house-museum where the celebrated writer spent his later years and passed away in 1923.

Before concluding our excursion, we’ll pay a visit to the Church of Santo Domingo de Guzmán and the local iraca palm craft shops, offering you a chance to purchase memorable souvenirs.

We will wrap up the day by returning you to your hotel in Barranquilla, with an estimated drop-off around 2 pm.
