On this cultural tour of Agreste Paraibano, we will explore Brazil's colonial history and architecture in Areia's countryside.

Tour Details

We will pick you up from your hotel in João Pessoa and travel to Areia, approximately a 2.5-hour journey.

Upon arrival in Areia, classified as historical by the National Institute of Historic and Artistic Heritage, we will embark on a guided tour of its narrow streets lined with 18th and 19th-century buildings. These buildings complement the region's semi-arid climate.

We will visit the Pedro Américo House Museum dedicated to a notable Paraíba artist and the Casarão José Rufino de Almeida, the first mansion built in Vila Real de Areia, learning about its residents and trades.

Next, we'll go to Budega do Vavá for various flavored spirits, artisanal cachaças, and traditional sweets like Rapadura. Following this, we will view Minerva Theatre, the first in Paraíba and a venue for 19th-century abolitionist struggles.

We will have a 1.5-hour break for lunch at the rural restaurant Vó Maria, known for its cooking in wood-fired ovens. After lunch, we will explore the Cachaça and Rapadura Museum, previously a sugar mill, featuring historical machinery.

We will witness the Cachaça Triunfo production process, including tastings of cane sugar juice and cachaça ice cream. This location also has a lake with boats for relaxation and options to purchase local products.

Our tour will conclude at Casa da Farinha Pôr do Sol, where we will enjoy a northeastern Brazilian sunset before returning to João Pessoa, with a total duration of 13 hours.
