On this cultural tour of Agreste Paraibano, we'll explore Brazil's colonial history and architecture in Areia's countryside.

Tour Details

We will pick you up from your hotel in João Pessoa and head to Areia via a journey of approximately 2.5 hours.

In Areia, designated as historical by the National Institute of Historic and Artistic Heritage, we'll take a guided tour of its narrow streets and view 18th and 19th-century buildings that harmonize with the semi-arid landscape.

Our first visit will be to the Pedro Américo House Museum, dedicated to a significant artist from Paraíba, followed by Casarão José Rufino de Almeida, the first mansion in Vila Real de Areia, where we will learn about its past occupants and their professions.

Next, we'll visit Budega do Vavá for local spirits, artisanal cachaças, and traditional sweets like Rapadura. Following this, we will see the Minerva Theatre, a historic venue for abolitionist movements.

There will be a 1.5-hour lunch break at the rural restaurant Vó Maria, known for its wood-fired cooking. Afterward, we will explore the Cachaça and Rapadura Museum, formerly a sugar mill from the 18th century, showcasing historic machinery.

We will also learn about the< strong>Cachaça Triunfo production, with tastings of cane sugar juice and cachaça ice cream. The location features a lake with boats available for relaxation and local products for purchase.

Our final stop will be Casa da Farinha Pôr do Sol, celebrating regional products while enjoying a northeastern Brazilian sunset. Afterwards, we will return to João Pessoa, dropping you off at your hotel after a total of 13 hours.
