On this cultural tour of Agreste Paraibano, we'll discover Brazil's colonial history and architecture in Areia's countryside. You'll see unique scenery!

Tour Details

At the designated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in João Pessoa and travel to Areia, approximately a 2.5-hour journey.

Upon arrival in Areia, designated as historical by the National Institute of Historic and Artistic Heritage, we will take a guided tour of its narrow streets, showcasing 18th and 19th-century buildings in harmony with the semi-arid climate.

We'll visit the Pedro Américo House Museum and then the Casarão José Rufino de Almeida, the first mansion in Vila Real de Areia.

Next, we'll explore Budega do Vavá, known for artisan cachaças and traditional sweets like Rapadura. We will also visit the Minerva Theatre, the first in Paraíba involved in 19th-century abolitionist efforts.

A 1.5-hour lunch break will be held at the rural restaurant Vó Maria, featuring traditional wood-fired cooking. Afterward, we will tour the Cachaça and Rapadura Museum, which functioned as a sugar mill in the 18th century.

We will then learn about the process behind Cachaça Triunfo production, taste cane sugar juice and cachaça ice cream, and relax by the lake with boats available for enjoyment.

We will conclude the tour at Casa da Farinha Pôr do Sol, celebrating the culture of regional products and enjoying a northeastern Brazilian sunset.

Finally, we will return to João Pessoa and drop you off at your hotel after a total of 13 hours.
