Tour Details
We will meet at Exit D of the Hugangquaio Metro Station to start this free walking tour of Beijing's significant spots. The tour will cover the city's transformation from an old walled capital to a political and cultural center.
We will first visit one of the oldest theatres in the city to learn about the Beijing Opera, recognized as an intangible cultural heritage. The tour continues through famous hutongs, where we will explore the Mongol legacy. A free Chinese calligraphy workshop will be included, allowing participants to create a souvenir.
Next, we'll visit the Hutong Market for a short break and then walk along Yangmei Old Street to discover its artisan shops and the evolution of Beijing's urban layout. We will proceed to Dashilar Street, a well-known commercial area, before walking down the narrowest hutong in the city to reach Qianmen Street.
We will also explore Beijing's Central Axis, a World Heritage Site, showcasing major monuments of the city. The tour will conclude at the outside of the Zhengyangmen Gate's Archery Tower, near Tiananmen Square, after 3.5 hours.
