Discover the cuisine, culture and folklore of the Chinese capital with this traditional dinner and Peking opera show at the Liyuan Theater Hotel.

Tour Description

At the indicated time, head to Liyuan Theater to enjoy a traditional dinner and an opera show in Beijing. For about an hour and a half, you'll enjoy a traditional Beijing dinner, which can consist of soup, a chicken, prawn or meat stir-fry and vegetables with rice. If there are more than 4 people in the group, you might get Peking duck.

After eating, you'll learn about the process of characterisation and preparation of the actors before the show. Then, you'll enjoy the hour-long opera show, a musical genre developed in the 18th century in Beijing, combining music, singing, mime, dance and acrobatics, performed by artists in elaborate costumes.

Each opera tells a story built around four main characters: sheng (a man), dan (a young woman), jing (a man with a painted face), and chou (a clown). Each character represents loyalty, betrayal, beauty, or evil, among others. After a total of 2.5 hours, we'll end the experience in Beijing.
