Discover the cuisine, culture and folklore of the Chinese capital with this traditional dinner and Peking opera show at the Liyuan Theater Hotel.

Tour Description

At the indicated time, head to Liyuan Theater to enjoy a traditional dinner and an opera show in Beijing. For about an hour and a half, you'll enjoy a traditional Beijing dinner, which may include soup, chicken, prawn or meat stir-fry with vegetables and rice. Groups with more than 4 people may receive Peking duck.

After dinner, you will learn about the characterisation and preparation of the actors before the show. Then, you will enjoy the hour-long opera show. This musical genre, developed in the late 18th century in Beijing, combines music, singing, mime, dance, and acrobatics, performed by artists in elaborate costumes.

Each opera tells a historical or fictional story centered on four main characters: sheng (a man), dan (a young woman), jing (a man with a painted face), and chou (a clown). These characters represent themes such as loyalty, betrayal, beauty, and evil.

After a total of 2.5 hours, the experience will conclude in Beijing.
