Discover the hutongs, historic temples, the business district, the Olympic Village, and shopping streets of modern Beijing.
Description
After hotel pickup, we will visit the Drum Tower, which announced the time in Beijing since the 3rd century. Next, we will explore the hutongs, the city's oldest alleys, using a rickshaw to see locals living a traditional lifestyle. Then we will visit the Yonghe Temple, the most important Tibetan Buddhist temple outside of Tibet.
In the skyscraper district of Guomao, we will experience the city's contrasts and enjoy lunch. Afterward, we will visit the Olympic Village to see the 2008 Olympic stadiums, Bird's Nest and Water Cube.
Next, we will head to China's National Centre for the Performing Arts, also known as "The Egg," which stirred debate due to its design. The tour concludes with a visit to Wangfujing, Beijing's main shopping street. At the end of the tour, you may choose to stay in Wangfujing or return to your hotel, arriving approximately 8 hours after pickup.
