On this guided tour, we'll discover the secrets of the Temple of the Lamas, one of the most important Tibetan Buddhist shrines in the world. We'll also stroll through the vibrant Wudaoying Hutong!

Tour Details

At the indicated time, we'll meet at YongHeGong subway station. Once gathered, we'll enter the Temple of the Lamas, the most significant Tibetan Buddhist shrine outside Tibet.

Our journey begins at the Yonghe Palace as we explore its sacred courtyards for about 1 hour and 10 minutes, appreciating the architectural details and the imposing 18-meter Buddha statue, carved from a single trunk of white sandalwood.

We'll delve into the 17th century} history of this palace, originally constructed for Prince Yongzhen and later becoming an important monastery for the Lama monks. We will observe various traditional buildings and notable incense burners where devotees place their incense sticks.

Subsequently, we'll walk for another hour and 10 minutes through the Wudaoying Alley, an area that merges the old soul of the city with a modern alternative vibe. As we explore, we'll see traditional cafés, designer stores, and charming bookstores, all within the context of typical hutong architecture.

This tour will conclude 2.5 hours after the start time.
