Tour Details
For those eager to explore the less commercialized areas of the Great Wall, we begin our journey by collecting you from your Beijing accommodation. From there, we will travel out of the city towards the boundary where Beijing meets Tianjin, located in the northern region.
After approximately three hours, we will arrive at the impressive Huangya entrance gate. Our walk will span over 3 kilometers (nearly 1.9 miles), during which you'll encounter 20 watchtowers and a fortified structure. As we navigate the lengthy stairways, discussions will bring to life the remarkable Ming Dynasty, which flourished for over three centuries, while also highlighting the architectural significance of Huangyaguan during the Northern Qi Dynasty.
Post-walk, we'll transition from Huangyaguan to a local restaurant to savor a traditional Chinese meal, a well-deserved treat after our physical exertion!
Next, we will head to the Qing Tombs, a captivating site of 17th-century mausoleums. This location holds significant value as it is the resting place of the first emperor of the Qing dynasty and is known as the largest and most intact necropolis within China.
As we proceed, you will marvel at the elaborately decorated funeral chambers that contain the remains of 5 emperors, along with over 100 concubines, empresses, princes, and princesses of the Qing Dynasty.
Ultimately, after an enriching day steeped in history, we will return to Beijing, concluding our tour at your hotel approximately nine hours after our initial pickup.
