Byblos & Monastery of Saint Maron
Pickup from your hotel in Beirut is at 8:30 am for the journey to the Monastery of Saint Maron in northern Lebanon. After a 1.5-hour drive along the Lebanese coastline, we reach the monastery located at an altitude of around 1200 metres in the Jbeil region, known as the Cave of the Monks. This site houses the tomb of Saint Charbel, a significant pilgrimage destination.
The tour continues to the monastery of St. Joseph, where the tomb of St. Rafqa, a Maronite nun beatified in 1985, is situated. We will also visit Kfifan and the monastery of St. Hardini, which contains the tomb of Maronite saint Nimatullah Al-Hardini, to increase our understanding of Lebanon's religious culture.
At 3 pm, enjoy a meal at a local restaurant before proceeding to Byblos, one of the oldest cities in the world. Here, we will explore the Roman amphitheatre, the temple of the obelisks, and the various tombs of Phoenician kings, learning about the historical significance of this region.
The tour allows for one hour of free time to explore the streets of Byblos and its craft market. We will return to Beirut around 6 pm.
