Discover why the Alhambra in Granada is one of Spain's most popular monuments with this day trip from Benalmadena. Delve deep into its legendary Arab history!
Description
At the indicated time, we'll meet at the meeting point of your choice and leave Benalmadena bound for Granada. During the journey through the mountainous Malaga countryside, we'll stop halfway for breakfast.
Upon arrival in Granada, you'll have 2 free hours to explore the city, visiting the Cathedral, the Arab neighborhoods like Albaicin, and the Paseo de los Tristes for scenic views of the Alhambra.
After regrouping, we will proceed to the Alhambra. This monument is one of Spain's most visited. A guided tour of the iconic palace complex will last 3 hours, including visits to the Palace of Carlos V, the Alcazaba, the Generalife, and its gardens.
The tour will cover the history of the Muslim caliphs and emirs who occupied these lands until the Catholic Monarchs' Reconquista in 1492. You'll see how the Alhambra maintains the authentic Al-Andalus essence and its designation as a World Heritage Site.
Finally, we will return to the vehicle for the journey back to Benalmádena, completing the excursion in about 10 hours.
Alhambra with Nasrid Palaces
For a complete Alhambra visit, you can opt for a tour of the Nasrid Palaces, including areas like the Courtyard of the Lions and the Palace of Comares. Note that the Alcazaba will not be included in this option.
Itinerary changes
Occasionally, the itinerary may be reversed, meaning we'll visit the Alhambra complex first, followed by free time in central Granada.
