Traiguera & Cervera del Maestre Guided Tour

At 8:45 am, we'll meet at the Benicassim Tourist Office and take a bus to Traiguera. Here, we will visit an estate of thousand-year-old olive groves to learn about the production of the Valencia region's 'liquid gold.'

We will walk through the orchards and admire the Sinfo Olive Tree, one of the oldest in Europe, known for winning a prize in 2018 for the best monumental olive tree. We will learn about their cultivation and attend an olive oil tasting with typical cold meats.

After the tasting, we will continue by bus to Cervera del Maestre. Here, we will visit the Oil Mill Visitor Centre to explore traditions related to olive groves. Following this, we will spend about 1 hour touring Cervera del Maestre, noted for its medieval castle, a fortress of Arab origin built to protect against Christian troops during Spain's Reconquest.

The final stop will be back in Traiguera at the Royal Sanctuary Virgen Fuente de la Salud, an Asset of Cultural Interest and a unique 'Royal' classification in Castellón. We will discuss its origins dating back to Charles V while examining various elements of the complex, including the hostelry and chapel.

The day trip will conclude between 2:15 pm and 2:45 pm at the meeting point.
