On this tour through the Caminhos de Pedra, we will explore an open-air museum focused on Italian immigration in Brazil, combining history, nature, and cuisine in a rural setting.
Caminhos de Pedra Tour
We will meet at 9 am at Rua Duque de Caxias in Bento Gonçalves to commence our tour. This route offers insights into the history of Italian immigration in Brazil, exploring the integration of Italian culture with local traditions, particularly in cattle raising and vineyard cultivation.
Our first stop will be at the Parque da Ovelha, where we will learn about sheep care. Next, we will visit Cantina Strapazzon, established in the late 19th century, to discover the region's winemaking tradition. This location is notable for being a filming site for several movies, including the 1995 Brazilian film O Quatrilho.
The tour will conclude with a visit to Casa Bertarello, a stone house that served as accommodation for the first immigrants to this area. Following this, we will return by bus to Bento Gonçalves, arriving at approximately 1 pm.
