Do you want to learn about the traditions of the Brazilian wine capital? On this activity, we'll take a ride on the famous Maria Fumaça train and take part in the grape harvest at a wine estate.

Maria Fumaça Train + Vineyard Harvest Tour

At 9 am, we'll meet at the train station to begin this experience and learn about the customs of Bento Gonçalves, known as the Brazilian wine capital.

The tour starts with a ride on the Maria Fumaça train, also called the wine train. We'll travel through the landscapes of the Serra Gaucha, passing scenic villages like Carlos Barbosa and Garibaldi while tasting wines, champagnes, and grape juices from the region. The journey includes live music at the stops.

Next, we'll visit the Epopeia Italiana theme park to explore the traditions of Italian immigrants. Following this, we will head to a family-owned wine estate where we will participate in the grape harvest, picking grapes from the vines. We'll also tread the grapes, a traditional method of juice extraction from Italian winemaking. This moment is a celebration as locals cheer the grape treaders.

After the harvest, we will enjoy a traditional Italian appetizer, the merendim, accompanied by traditional music.

The experience concludes with our return to Bento Gonçalves station, arriving around 4 pm.
