Tour Overview

Your adventure begins with a convenient pickup at your hotel in Bento Gonçalves at the specified time, setting the stage for an insightful tour of the Rota dos Espumantes, where you will delve into the origins of Brazilian champagne.

The story dates back to 1913 when Manoel Peterlongo, an Italian immigrant, endeavored to recreate his beloved sparkling wine from Europe. He embraced the natural fermentation methods inspired by the French Dom Pérignon, marking the creation of Brazil’s first sparkling wine, known as 'espumante'.

The Rota dos Espumantes features 17 exceptional wineries, and during this tour, we will visit two of the most distinguished. Our first stop takes us to the Devorata Chocolate Truffle Shop, celebrated for its exquisite truffles infused with sparkling wine.

Next, we will proceed to Peterlongo Winery, a trailblazer in the realm of Brazilian sparkling wines and the sole winery permitted to use the term "champagne" on its labels. The winery’s primary structure, resembling a castle and reflecting the architectural style of France's Champagne region, is an impressive sight. We will have the opportunity to explore a vast underground wine cellar spanning 10,000 square meters and partake in a tasting session. Additionally, we’ll revisit Devorata to savor more of their famous truffles.

Our final destination will be Vinícola Garibaldi, a cooperative with a rich history extending over 90 years, supported by more than 430 families devoted to grape cultivation. Here, you'll have the chance to discover the various sparkling wines crafted by the estate before we make our way back to Bento Gonçalves.
