Chiapas & Yucatan 6 Day Tour Package to Cancun

Day 1: Tuxtla Gutiérrez - Sumidero Canyon - San Cristóbal

Upon your arrival at Tuxtla Gutierrez Airport, the journey begins with a transfer to the Sumidero Canyon, where you will experience Mexico's impressive natural beauty. A 2-hour boat cruise through this spectacular gorge allows you to admire the sheer cliffs and lush rainforest flanking the Grijalva River. Keep an eye out for crocodiles, monkeys, and various bird species.

After the boat tour, lunch will be served at a local restaurant before we continue the journey to our hotel in San Cristobal de las Casas for an overnight stay.

Day 2: San Cristóbal de las Casas

Following breakfast, the day begins with a visit to the indigenous villages of San Juan Chamula and Zinacantan. You will find yourself immersed in a local market of San Cristóbal, where artisans gather daily to sell their handmade products. These towns, primarily inhabited by Tzotzil Maya people, showcase the culture and traditions of this ancient civilization. You’ll also visit the notable whitewashed Church of San Juan Chamula, which merges Catholic and local religious practices.

Your experience continues in Zinacantan, where a family cooperative will welcome you to demonstrate the traditional waist-weaving technique. After lunch in San Cristobal, the remainder of the day is free for personal exploration.

Day 3: San Cristóbal - Agua Azul Waterfalls - Palenque

After breakfast, we leave San Cristobal, heading northeast towards Palenque. The highlight of the day will be the stunning Agua Azul waterfalls, where you can take a refreshing dip in the crystal-clear waters of the natural pools.

A lunch break will be included at a local restaurant along the route to Palenque.

Day 4: Palenque - Yaxchilán - Palenque

After breakfast, we will travel from Palenque to Corozal, where a shuttle bus will take us to the archaeological site of Yaxchilán. This ancient Maya city, hidden by dense jungle, dates back to approximately 200 to 900 A.D. Guided exploration will reveal temples and palaces as we uncover their historical significance.

We will later return to Palenque for lunch at a local eatery.

Day 5: Palenque - Campeche

Post breakfast, we head to the renowned Palenque archaeological site, famous for its sophisticated Mayan architecture. During your guided tour, you will learn about structures such as the Temple of the Inscriptions, the Palace, and the Temple of the Cross.

The journey continues to Campeche for a delicious local lunch, followed by a guided tour of the historic centre, showcasing its colonial architecture and charm.

Day 6: Campeche - Izamal - Mérida

After breakfast, we will visit the archaeological site of Izamal, which holds a significant place in Mayan culture. Following our exploration, a lunch stop will be made, before heading to Merida, also known as "the White City." Here, you will tour iconic landmarks such as the Government Palace and the Cathedral.

Day 7: Mérida - Chichen Itza - Cancun or Riviera Maya

After breakfast, we depart Mérida for one of the New Seven Wonders of the World: Chichen Itza. Here, delve into the history of the Maya civilization as you explore this ancient city, admiring its magnificent structures. Points of interest include the Great Ball Court and the Sacred Cenote.

On the final day, enjoy a group lunch before traveling to Cancun or Riviera Maya for hotel or airport drop-off as per your booking.

What Does the Tour Include?

This Chiapas and Yucatan 6 Day Tour Package includes five nights' accommodation with five breakfasts (including 1 box breakfast) and one lunch. Transfers to and from Tuxtla Gutiérrez Airport, along with transportation throughout the tour, are included. An English-speaking guide and all entrance fees to the sites specified in the itinerary are also part of the package.

Participants are required to arrive in Tuxtla Gutiérrez by 1 pm on the tour start date and should depart from Cancun after 6:30 pm on the tour's final day (unless arranged otherwise in Cancun or Riviera Maya).
