At the specified time, we will meet at the Berthier-sur-Mer Marina. There, we will board a boat and sail on the St. Lawrence River towards Grosse-île.

Upon arrival, you will meet your Parks Canada certified tour guide. Grosse Island served as a former quarantine station for immigrants arriving from Ireland, who were taken here for disinfection before entering the mainland.

Tragically, over 7000 immigrants died on this island due to poor sanitary conditions.

During your visit, you can explore the church, lighthouse, cemetery, and the lazaretto, which provides insight into the disinfection process used by the authorities.

After learning about the dark history of Grosse Island, we will return to the meeting point to conclude the day trip.
