At the indicated time, we'll meet at the Schiena dell'Asino car park to start the hiking route through Etna and the Bove Valley. The hike ascends from 5906 to 6463 feet (1800 to 1970 meters) via the Schiena dell'Asino trail. This trail, named Path of the Donkey's Back, features a notable rock formation along the route.

We will pass through pine forests and see ancient solidified lava flows, enjoying views of the Sicilian coast and the Ionian Sea. The guide will explain the formation of Etna and its caves and discuss the volcano's cultural significance in Sicily.

Upon reaching the end of the trail, we'll admire the Bove Valley, an extensive depression over 5 miles (8 kilometers) long on the eastern side of Etna, noted for its desert-like and lunar landscape appearance due to volcanic sand.

After enjoying the panoramic views, we will begin our descent along the Espalda del Burro, viewing Bove Valley from a different perspective. The route includes a passage near a large black sand channel and a volcanic cave.

The trekking route concludes after 3 or 4 hours, returning to the starting point.
